Rated one of the best horse trails in the state. The trail is a popular site for competitive rides. Situated in the heart of the forest, this trail consists of four loop trails, each converging into the other. The surrounding forest is a mix of hardwoods and pine with numerous streams and small waterfalls. Although this area is primarily developed as a horse trail, it is actually a multiple-use trail open to Off-Highway Vehicles, mountain bikes, hikers, and high-clearance vehicles. There are camping spurs (17), vault toilets, and a municipal water supply to make unforgettable ATV vacations possible. The forest service requires a $3/day permit to ride the Moccasin Gap ATV Trail. There are four main ATV loops at Moccasin Gap: The Gap Hollow, Stave Mill Falls loop, High Mountain Loop, and Black Oak loop. Trails are a mix of abandoned logging roads, jeep roads, and cut single-track ATV trails. Many are fast with break-neck rocky drops and serious water bar jumps. Beautiful scenery, as per usual with the Ozark Mountains. High Mountain loops is considered the most difficult while Stave Mill Falls loop is the more manageable.
